In Italy, tailors and designers are betting big on ensembles. A more casual way of dressing than a suit, it appeals to a younger clientele... without sacrificing chic.
A jacket and trousers made of the same material is as old as the hills (well, for almost two centuries, and Edward VII , in 1855, is considered the first man to wear a suit). A jacket, trousers and a shirt made of the same material is less common, or even frankly new, it's called a "matching set".
It will have escaped no one, and especially not the readers of the fashion pages of Le Figaro, that, in recent years, and in particular the Covid-19 pandemic , the suit is no longer really the worker's uniform. For a long time, it was even believed to be on the verge of disappearing, replaced by an eternal "casual" wardrobe, dragging down prestigious houses with it. This was without counting on the taste for beauty of certain elegant people, who still wear it for pleasure, and on the resilience of many tailors who have been able to refresh their image and their products.
